It combines eggs, condensed milk and coconut then baked until you see a golden brown top. Follow the Cassava Cake recipe below to learn how to make your own at home!

Cassava Cake Recipe Ingredients:

Cake:

* 2 lb frozen grated cassava (you can find this in any oriental store)
* 150 grams sugar
* 3 Eggs
* 2 tbsp melted Butter
* 500 ml coconut Milk
* wilted banana leaves (optional)

Topping:

* 2 egg yolks
* 60 g butter
* 1 can (300 ml) condensed milk
* 250 ml coconut cream
* 1 tsp lemon extract

Cassava Cake Cooking Instructions:

Preparation:

Preheat oven to 190AºC or 375AºF.

How to make Cassava Cake topping:

1. Combine egg yolks, butter, condensed milk and coconut cream in a double boiler. Continue to mix until mixture thickens for about 30 – 45 minutes.
2. Add lemon extract and set aside.

How to make the Cassava cake:

1. In a large mixing bowl, beat the eggs until foamy. Gradually add sugar, salt and melted butter.
2. Next, blend in grated cassava and coconut milk.
3. Prepare you baking pan with wilted banana leaves. Brush it with oil or butter.
4. Pour the mixture into the pan and bake for 20 minutes.

Final Step:

1. Pour the topping you made earlier into the cassava cake and bake for another 20 minutes until topping caramelized or a toothpick inserted in the cake comes out clean.
2. It is best serve in warm temperature. Enjoy!

After attending all Sunday spiritual services, we invite all our Kababayans to bring their families, friends, relatives and even your non-Filipino friends to the Waterfront Park, and there- have your lunch, watch the various presentations, and even get the chance to win the fantastic prizes. Don’t miss the colorful opening ceremonies and parade of colors at 10:30a.m.

Be in your comfortable attire and join us with our dancing at the park! There will also be some merchandise and souvenir booths where you can shop!

Once again, we will organize this commemorative and festive event in celebration of the 112th Philippine Independence Day right here in the city of Surrey, home to a great number of Filipino-Canadians, and is the 2nd city in B.C. with the most number of Filipino residents. The celebration will have songs and dances, entertainment, exhibits, games, raffle draw & prizes, food concessions, and a parade/procession via this years’ special presentation of the Festival of Queens and Flowers (Santacruzan) in line with our Society’s aim to share and promote Filipino culture, heritage, and traditions among our fellow Canadians. This event will be free of admission and open to the public, and will be widely advertised. Our last year’s event was attended by about 2,000-3,000 people, coming and going, throughout the entire day, was graced by several government dignitaries, was sent greeting to by no less than the Prime Minister, and was featured in the city website, Shaw TV, and several newspaper publications.

We would like to invite you, your family and friends to come celebrate with us and visit the event. The celebration will start with the Santacruzan at 10:00 in the morning and the official Opening ceremony would take place at 1:00 in the afternoon. We look forward to seeing you at the event! It would be great to celebrate another year of the community’s friendship and association with you!
